High Court pulls up Punjab Chief Secretary over Dearness Allowance arrears

The Punjab and Haryana High Court issued a show-cause notice for criminal contempt against the Punjab Chief Secretary for failing to comply with directions to pay Dearness Allowance arrears.

The court questioned why the compliance report was not submitted by the August 31 deadline and noted that an associated Special Leave Petition filed in the Supreme Court was defective.

The High Court scheduled the next hearing of the case for October 9.
