Bangladesh Measles Outbreak Claims 918 Lives Amid Rising Case Counts

Bangladesh reported three additional deaths from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours ending at 8 am on August 18, 2026, bringing the total death toll to 918.

The country recorded 1,002 new suspected cases in the same period, pushing the cumulative number of suspected infections to 144,780, while laboratory-confirmed cases reached 17,989.

According to DGHS data, 126,289 patients have been hospitalized since March 15, with 121,880 individuals having recovered from the disease as the outbreak continues to challenge vaccination efforts.
