Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran to Step Down in February

Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran will not seek reappointment when his term concludes in February 2027, following a failure by the Tata Sons board to reach a consensus on his extension.

The 63-year-old executive, who has led the conglomerate since 2017, stated that he chose to defer the decision after one board member opposed his five-year extension proposal.

The group, which owns entities like Air India and Tata Steel, now faces a six-month leadership transition period to appoint a successor amid ongoing internal governance tensions.
