Dr. Kunal Sood, a Maryland-based physician, identified creatine, Vitamin D, Omega-3s, magnesium, and protein powder as five supplements that may help combat age-related muscle loss.
According to the August 20, 2026, advisory, creatine and adequate protein intake provide the strongest evidence for improving lean mass and strength when paired with resistance training.
The physician noted that while Vitamin D, magnesium, and Omega-3s support neuromuscular function and reduce inflammation, they are best viewed as supportive tools rather than direct muscle builders.
