Delhi Records Six-Fold Surge in H1N1 Influenza Cases

Delhi has reported 1,344 H1N1 influenza cases so far this year, marking a nearly six-fold increase compared to the 229 cases recorded during the same period in 2025.

AIIMS doctors attribute the spike to monsoon conditions and temperature fluctuations, noting a rise in patients with upper respiratory infections testing positive for H1N1 and influenza A in outpatient departments.

Health experts advise that elderly individuals, children under five, and those with chronic conditions like diabetes or kidney disease are at higher risk and should prioritize annual flu vaccinations.
