Exchange of strikes kills seven in Ukraine and Russia amid rising tensions

Overnight strikes across Ukraine and Russia killed at least six people in Ukraine and one in Russia following Moscow's rejection of German calls to de-escalate.

In Kyiv and surrounding areas, Russian drone and guided bomb strikes resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, including strikes near Europe's largest nuclear plant in Enerhodar.

The exchange follows a dismissed meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his German counterpart in New York amid strained diplomatic ties.
