A Kuki woman named Domkhonei Touthang died from two bullet injuries after crossfire broke out between armed groups and security forces in Manipur's Kamjong district on Friday night.
The violence erupted during a security drive to demolish illegal bunkers near Chassad police station, which faced disruption from local women and subsequent firing by unidentified individuals.
The Kamjong district magistrate imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, within a 400-metre radius of the Chassad police gate junction following the escalation.
