India's trade deficit expanded by 31.5% to $15 billion in July 2026, despite a significant 11-fold surge in electronics exports.
Total exports rose by 19.63% to $44.24 billion, but import costs for essential commodities continued to outpace export gains.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India remains on track to reach a $1 trillion export target by the end of the fiscal year.
