China sets guidelines for fentanyl-related crimes ahead of Trump-Xi summit

China has issued guidelines for handling criminal cases involving fentanyl-related substances to clarify quantitative criteria for conviction and sentencing ahead of the summit between Presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump.

The Trump administration has repeatedly urged Beijing to stem the flow of precursor chemicals used to synthesise the deadly opioid into the U.S. markets.

On Tuesday, China added two chemicals to its export control list for drug precursors, requiring permits for exports to the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
