The Central Consumer Protection Authority fined Britannia Industries ₹1 lakh for advertising '100% whole wheat bread' while containing only 62% wheat.
The regulator ordered Britannia to immediately discontinue the misleading advertisements across all media and submit a compliance report within 15 days.
The CCPA stated that the absolute numerical claim violated the Food Safety and Standards Regulations and constituted an unfair trade practice.
