Medical interns in Jammu and Kashmir resume strike over stipend revision

Medical interns in Jammu and Kashmir resumed their strike on Tuesday after accusing the government of failing to honour a commitment to increase their monthly stipend.

The agitation follows recent stipend revisions across several states, including Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh in 2026.

Stipend amounts continue to vary across states as the National Medical Commission's regulatory framework leaves stipend determination to relevant local authorities.
