Karnataka Government Considers Official Recognition for Kannada Flag

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced that the government is considering officially recognizing the Kannada flag during the upcoming winter legislature session starting November 30.

The state will issue an order this month enabling private institutions to fly the flag and is considering making it mandatory in state-supported institutions.

In 2018, a previous cabinet proposal for a horizontal tricolour flag with the Gandaberunda emblem was rejected by the central government due to Flag Code rules.
