Gulveer Singh became the first Indian to win medals in both the 5000m and 10,000m events at a single Commonwealth Games edition, securing bronze and silver respectively.
In the 5000m final on Saturday, Singh clocked 13:24.95s to edge out Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi by four hundredths of a second for the bronze medal.
This performance contributed to India’s record-breaking day at the 2026 Games, where the nation reached the fourth spot in the medal table with eight gold medals won on August 1.
