WHO Reports Rising Community Deaths in Congo Ebola Outbreak

The WHO reported that community deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ebola outbreak reached 75% for the week ending September 6, the highest proportion recorded.

Cumulative totals have reached 6,686 confirmed cases and 3,226 deaths, with a case fatality ratio of 48.3% among confirmed and probable cases.

As of September 6, 2,007 frontline healthcare workers have been vaccinated, though the WHO warns the outbreak remains a public health emergency with a very high risk of spread.
