Robotics Startup Generalist Reaches $3 Billion Valuation

Robotics startup Generalist reached a $3 billion valuation after securing nearly $200 million in new capital led by 8VC, bringing its total Series B funding to $600 million.

Founded in 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers, the company is developing an AI foundation model, Gen 1.5, which allows robots to learn new tasks from short video demonstrations.

The startup currently competes with firms like Physical Intelligence and Skild AI, which hold valuations of $11 billion and $14 billion respectively, as investors bet on general-purpose robotics.
