Sawan Barwal Wins Marathon Silver at Asian Games 2026

Sawan Barwal finished second in the men's marathon at the Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya, clinching India's first medal in the event since 1982.

Barwal clocked a national record time of 2:11:36, improving upon his previous sub-2:12 mark set at the Rotterdam Marathon earlier in April.

Japan's Ichitaka Yamashita won the gold medal on home soil with a timing of 2:10:51, maintaining the lead over Barwal in the closing stages.
