Punjab Government Issues Show-Cause Notices to Striking Employees

The Punjab government has directed department heads to issue show-cause notices to nearly 4 lakh employees who participated in a mass casual leave protest on August 27, 2026.

Employees are demanding the release of pending dearness allowance and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, with union leaders planning further action at a meeting in Ludhiana.

Union leader Sahil Sharma stated that over 60 unions will discuss their response to the government's disciplinary threats, which follow the cancellation of a meeting with CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
