Twenty-seven people were killed across two separate mass shootings in South Africa in a span of hours near Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Seventeen people were killed by gunmen at a bar near Johannesburg, while another 10 people died outside an entertainment venue near Cape Town.
Police suspect the Johannesburg shooting was motivated by robbery or illegal mining turf wars, while no arrests have been made in connection with either incident.
