Students blockaded dozens of high schools across France on Tuesday to press demands regarding school renovations, reduced class sizes, and university places.
Authorities reported that 48 out of 3,700 high schools were blocked in cities including Paris, Rennes, Toulouse, and Lyon.
Student unions contested the official figures, claiming that 500 establishments were affected ahead of a planned nationwide trade union strike.
