
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with 82 National Award-winning teachers on September 4, 2026, to discuss strategies for addressing excessive screen time and drug addiction among students.
The awardees included 48 teachers from the Department of School Education and Literacy, 21 from higher education institutions, and 13 skill trainers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Modi advised teachers to encourage students to engage in sports and creative activities to reduce mobile phone usage and to remain vigilant regarding behavioral changes linked to substance abuse.
