Kerala Excise Minister M Liju announced that the UDF government will examine 488 bar licences granted during the previous LDF tenure and take action against any irregularities.
The licences were issued over 10 years by two Pinarayi Vijayan governments using authority given to Deputy Excise Commissioners through a June 23, 2017 rule amendment.
Liju stated that the government will withdraw the authority of Deputy Excise Commissioners to grant new FL 3 bar licences and investigate related procedural violations.
