Mistral Releases Le Chonk Multimodal AI Model with 1 Trillion Parameters

French AI startup Mistral released the Mistral Large 4 model, named Le Chonk, to compete with open-source and Chinese AI models.

Le Chonk is a 1 trillion-parameter multimodal model featuring 49 billion active parameters and was trained on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs.

The open weights for Le Chonk are scheduled for release at the end of October following a period of real-world cybersecurity red-teaming.
