Supreme Court Gives Centre Time to Consider Exempting Current Class 6 From Language Policy

The Supreme Court granted the Union government more time to decide on exempting the current batch of Class 6 students from the three-language policy.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant emphasized that the policy should not spring a surprise on students with only four months left in the academic year.

The court asked the government to detail teacher availability and school infrastructure, scheduling the next hearing for Monday, September 28, 2026.
