LG Denies Allegations of Ambient Audio Recording on Smart TVs

LG Electronics denied claims that its smart televisions record ambient conversations, stating that voice data collection only occurs when users activate the "Hi LG" wake word or press the remote button.

The denial follows a report by Gamers Nexus alleging that LG TVs, which account for 216 million units globally, could record audio in hibernation and harvest network data including IP addresses.

LG stated that features like Automatic Content Recognition and interest-based advertising require explicit user opt-in consent and can be disabled by owners through the television's settings menu.
