More Than 1,800 Arrested During Violent Nationwide Protests in France

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced on Sunday that more than 1,800 people were arrested during and after violent protests involving clashes, arson, and looting across major cities.

The demonstrations against high inflation and the cost of living occurred in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Bordeaux on the sidelines of mass protests.

Nunez stated that about 500 police officers, firefighters, and paramedics were injured during the demonstrations, which followed four weeks of student protests over poor classroom conditions.
