West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced cabinet approval for the Bhagini Nivedita Scheme, providing ₹50,000 in financial assistance to unmarried women pursuing higher education.

Beneficiaries will receive ₹17,000 in both their first and second years, and ₹16,000 in their third year, with the scheme rolling out across the state starting January 2027.

The government also increased sanitation workers' monthly remuneration to ₹8,000 and raised SC and ST student hostel food allowances from ₹1,800 to ₹3,300 per month.
