The BSE Sensex ended nearly flat with a 3.11-point gain at 77,540.83, while the Nifty50 rose 20.15 points or 0.08 per cent to close at 24,252 on August 21, 2026.
Both benchmark indices recorded their second consecutive week of decline as global equities retreated due to rebounding bond yields and surging oil prices amid US-Iran tensions.
In broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices rose 0.1 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively, while Nifty Metal and Private Bank sectors outperformed the broader market.
