The United Forum of Bank Unions has scheduled a series of nationwide strikes, beginning with a one-day protest on September 11, to demand a five-day work week and revised incentive schemes.
Unions are protesting a Finance Ministry directive that limits performance-linked incentives for workmen and officers up to Scale III to 15 days of pay, while offering up to 365 days for senior officers.
Further industrial action is planned with a three-day strike from September 28 to 30, followed by an indefinite strike starting October 26 if demands regarding pension and work hours remain unresolved.
