Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paused his speech at the United Nations General Assembly to thank Uganda for erecting a statue honoring his late brother.
The statue commemorates Yonatan Netanyahu, who was killed while serving as the commanding officer of the 1976 Entebbe hostage-rescue operation.
The memorial monument was unveiled in August 2026 to mark the 50th anniversary of the historic rescue mission.
