The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to 92-year-old Bharat Ratna awardee Prof. C.N.R. Rao for a hearing regarding a 'self-name mismatch' in electoral rolls.
The discrepancy involves an extra 'f' in the title 'Proff.' on current rolls compared to the 2002 records, requiring the scientist to appear in Malleshwaram to verify his identity.
Prof. Rao, a former head of the Scientific Advisory Council to four Prime Ministers, is currently unwell, and his acquaintances were unaware of the notice until contacted by media.
