Punjab native detained in Kerala for illegal drone flight near synagogue

Mattancherry police detained 66-year-old Canada-settled Punjab native Ashu Kumar Khanna for flying a drone without required permissions near the Mattancherry synagogue on Friday.

The accused was booked under BNS sections 289 and 125 alongside provisions of the Drone Rules for operating in a sensitive airspace zone containing naval and coast guard installations.

He was released after being served a notice, following an incident near the historic synagogue that follows an earlier arson case invoking the UAPA.
