The Centre informed the Supreme Court that issuing rejection slips to 1.9 million people excluded from Assam's National Register of Citizens has not begun.
The Registrar General of India stated that the final NRC remains unnotified because the state coordinator is still developing a security regime for the data.
The Supreme Court adjourned the proceedings to November 6 after the Assam government sought additional time to file its response.
