The Registrar General of India has notified 40 questions for Census 2027, which will for the first time record caste data exactly as declared by citizens.
Self-enumeration begins August 17 in Ladakh and snowbound regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with a national budget of ₹11,718 crore.
The new questionnaire includes mandatory fields for Aadhaar numbers, mobile numbers, passport details, and Covid-19 vaccination history, with a reference date of March 1, 2027.
