Alphabet’s Google suspended an AI image-generation feature in Google Earth on Friday, just one day after its initial launch, due to policy violations.
The tool, powered by the Nano Banana 2 AI model, allowed users to generate photorealistic images over satellite and 3D data, which critics warned could facilitate misinformation.
Google stated it is pausing the capability to implement stronger guardrails after users shared screenshots of generated imagery that violated company safety policies.
