Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has scheduled a snap election for November 29 after parliament rejected his minority government’s proposed housing relief measures.
The decision follows widespread public protests against rising housing costs, which saw average rents nearly double and home prices rise by 90% over a decade.
Opposition parties, including the Popular Party and the Catalan separatist party Junts, have contributed to legislative hurdles for the current administration.
