19,000 West Bengal Voters Miss Bypolls Over Pending Tribunal Appeals

Nearly 19,000 voters in Nandigram and Rejinagar missed byelections on Tuesday as their cases remained pending before Appellate Tribunals.

Only 16 of the 19 tribunals set up in March remain functional after three retired judges resigned, leaving their positions vacant.

The Supreme Court was scheduled to hear the matter on Monday, while the ECI's special door-to-door drive does not apply to them.
