Former Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi met with Arnaud de Baecque, the resident representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross, in Naypyitaw on Monday.
The 81-year-old Nobel laureate, who is serving an 18-year sentence, was photographed for the first time in years, marking the first such visit since her 2021 detention.
While her son Kim Aris called the meeting a positive first step, he noted that the family has received no independent verification of her health or wellbeing.
