Colombia Declares Three Days of Mourning Following Deadly 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake

Colombia has entered three days of national mourning after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake—the strongest in a century—killed over 200 people and injured 2,595 across the country's western region.

President Abelardo de la Espriella declared a state of emergency as rescue teams search for 195 officially missing persons, though civilian databases estimate the figure could reach 4,000.

The United States is deploying urban search-and-rescue teams from Virginia and California alongside $15.5 million in aid, while the European Union has pledged $2.3 million to support recovery efforts.
