Anthropic reports state-sponsored spying and distillation attacks using Claude AI

Anthropic shut down state-sponsored surveillance operations originating from China, Iran, and West Africa that used its AI models to target dissidents and minorities.

The company alleged that Chinese developers Moonshot and Deepseek secretly used Claude to generate user responses and distill data to train their own models.

Anthropic also disrupted unauthorized user attempts involving weapons design, biological research into pathogens, and dating scams.
