A residential building collapse in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, has resulted in 10 confirmed deaths, with rescue operations concluding on August 1 after the structure gave way.
The civic body stated that the building had been declared dangerous and served three separate notices for evacuation, though residents reportedly continued to occupy the premises.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia relief package for the victims' families, while local police have initiated a probe into illegal structural repairs conducted on the site.
