Karnataka to set up committee to boost deceased donor organ transplants

Karnataka's Health Department will establish an Organ Transplant Visionary Committee under Nagesh Hegde to boost deceased donor organ transplants across the state.

The committee will recommend measures to improve infrastructure, facilitate brain death certification in government medical colleges, and expand retrieval center access.

Health Minister U.T. Khader noted that 6,291 patients are currently awaiting organ transplants in the state and urged citizens to pledge organs via the Jeevasarthakathe portal.
