Tech Hiring in Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities Increases 95%

Active tech job openings in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities rose 95% year-on-year to 41,000 in September 2026, according to the latest Xpheno Active Tech Jobs Outlook report.

The IT Services sector led the recovery with 57,000 active openings, marking an 18-month high and a 30% month-on-month increase in demand for tech talent across India.

Companies are increasingly targeting smaller cities like Coimbatore, Indore, and Ahmedabad, where operating costs and commercial rents are 30-40% lower than in major metropolitan hubs.
