Iran Threatens Military Attack Over US Ceasefire Deal Failure

Iran will launch a military attack if the United States fails to fully implement an interim peace deal within a few weeks, a senior Iranian official stated on August 17, 2026.

Tehran intends to break the U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz through a timely and precise strike if diplomatic efforts under the June agreement continue to stall.

The Iranian official confirmed a shift in policy from defence to offence, declaring that relying on mediators for a permanent ceasefire is no longer considered a realistic strategy by Tehran.
