India standardises names of 28 geographical places in Ladakh

The Government of India, in consultation with the Ladakh administration, standardised the names of 28 geographical features on the official Survey of India map.

The officially recognized list features 11 peaks, five mountains, six land areas, two glaciers, two passes, one valley, one river, one lake, and one water body.

The notification follows similar actions in Arunachal Pradesh and aims to ensure accurate recognition amid ongoing Chinese military buildup along the LAC since April 2020.
