Panama-flagged cargo ship sinks off Odisha coast, 24 crew missing

The Indian Coast Guard launched a search-and-rescue operation after the Panama-flagged bulk carrier M.V. Ocean Winner sank in the Bay of Bengal on August 22, 2026.

The vessel was carrying 24 crew members, including 20 Chinese, three Myanmarese, and one Bangladeshi national, while transporting iron ore from Paradip to Singapore.

Rescue teams recovered two survivors from liferafts after the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre received a distress signal at 1148 hours regarding the loss of communication.
