Right-wing candidate Flávio Bolsonaro won the first round of Brazil's presidential election with 47.03% of the vote, defeating incumbent leftist President Lula da Silva.
As neither candidate secured over 50% of the vote, a run-off election between the two rivals is scheduled to take place on October 25.
Bolsonaro, son of the imprisoned former president Jair Bolsonaro, has pledged to grant amnesty to his father and supporters involved in the 2023 government building riots.
