Indian benchmark indices opened flat in early trade on Friday, with the Sensex up 138.77 points and the Nifty advancing 38.95 points.
The IT index rose 1.8 percent, providing support while Brent crude remained elevated above $117 per barrel.
Markets also awaited the quarterly earnings reports of heavyweights Reliance Industries and Sun Pharma.
