Supreme Court takes suo motu cognisance of Delhi-NCR sexual assault cases

The Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of recent sexual assault cases in Delhi-NCR, seeking a response from Delhi Police regarding lax patrolling.

A Bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K. Vinod Chandran highlighted failures in public administration and law enforcement to guarantee basic safety under Article 21.

The apex court questioned police response in the Astha Kunj park case and noted that public spaces cannot become high-risk zones due to administrative deficiencies.
