Former Supreme Court judge Justice Rajesh Bindal was appointed as the new chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal on Thursday.
Justice Bindal succeeds Justice Ashok Bhushan, who retired in July, following an interim period where Justice Yogesh Khanna served as the officiating chairperson.
The appointment occurs as the Supreme Court criticizes the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for allegedly undermining the autonomy of tribunals like the NCLAT.
