Actor Kamal Haasan announced his next film titled Sandiyar, directed by SU Arun Kumar, a title he previously dropped in 2003 following political objections.
In 2003, then-Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa refused police protection for the film's shoot after Dalit leader K Krishnaswamy protested the title.
Actor-filmmaker Lenin Bharathi criticised the title announcement, stating it glorifies violence and promotes caste-based conflicts in southern districts.
